About

A knitter since childhood, Caroline studied art and design and graduated in London with a degree in Constructed Textiles. With a background in fashion and interiors, she has always had a desire to create, design and make.

After moving to the West of Ireland and getting to know the counties of Clare and Galway, she was drawn to the popularity of the Aran sweater. She fell in love with the style and structure of the stitches, as well as the symbolism and tradition of the craft.

She began to create one-off panels to explore the main motifs used in Aran knitting, showcasing each stitch design as a work of art in itself – to be displayed as a standalone piece or in a collection. In future, she plans to expand on this by designing more artworks and accessories in Aran knit.

"With its beautiful and evocative stitches, Aran knitting is a skill that's been shared and handed down throughout Ireland, the British Isles and beyond for many years, along with its folkloric history.

Inspired by these traditions, I will be following my own path, developing more ideas along the way, and creating my own stories in wool."
